Anti-Spam Policy
Maildrop and Catchlight Design Ltd do not participate in spamming and to join Maildrop you must provide a valid list of opt-in subscribers. We take permission very seriously. By creating an account and agreeing to our Terms of Use, you are also agreeing to this anti-spam policy.
Maildrop is bound by the Governing Laws of New Zealand. Legislation regulating commercial email passed through the New Zealand Parliament at the end of February 2007 in the form of the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act. This Bill prohibits the sending of unsolicited electronic messages (in the form of emails, text messages, or instant messages) of a marketing nature.
We require that every email sent using Maildrop must include the following:
- A single-click unsubscribe link that instantly removes the subscriber from your list. Once they unsubscribe, you can never email them again.
- The name and physical address of the sender. If you’re sending an email for your client, you’ll need to include your client’s details instead.
Our software is directly integrated into the spam reporting systems for some of the biggest ISP’s like Hotmail and Yahoo. If you don’t have permission and someone marks your campaign as spam, we’ll know about it the moment that button is pressed. If you receive a complaint rate greater than 0.25% of all recipients (that’s 25 complaints for every 10,000 recipients) your account may be terminated. This is a generous figure that takes into account false spam reports.
Importing Existing Lists
If your subscriber database is more than 500 then you will have to submit this list for approval, explaining how you got permission. After a period of no more than 24 hours you will be given permission to email to this list. As your list grows you will be asked to submit it again for approval at various milestones like 1000, 2000 or 5000 subscribers. We need to ensure that you are not sending unsolicited emails or spam.
